About Renzo Cheesman

My name is Renzo Cheesman, a composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist specializing in film scoring with over 10 thesis films under my belt for senior students from institutions like Loyola Marymount University, Boston University, and the University of Texas, I've also scored animations for Mass Art.

Born and raised in Lima, Peru, my musical journey began early, influenced by my father's love for American and British Classic Rock and New Wave, and then discovering other genres like the Blues, Southern Rock, Gospel, and Orchestral music. I was also exposed to a variety of Peruvian musical genres such as Criollo, Andean, Marinera, and Afro Peruvian music. I participated in school plays and local performances from a young age, honing my craft through real-world experience.

After initially studying at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), I formed a band and played across bars in the neighborhoods of Miraflores and Barranco in Lima, which eventually led me to pursue further education in Buenos Aires and Miami. I graduated with highest honors in Music Education from Miami Dade College in 2020 and then joined Berklee College of Music on two scholarships in 2022. There, I've collaborated with leading industry professionals and formed my original band, Mapache Orange.
